What are cookies

A cookie is a small text file that stores information related to users’ browsing; this text is sent from the websites to the users’ terminals (computers, tablets, etc.).

Cookies allow to identify the user ‘s device every time it access the website, ensuring a more efficient operation of the website, enriching the visit experience and providing information to website owners.

Some cookies are automatically deleted at the end of a browsing session, while others remain stored in terminals, normally hosted in the used browser (eg Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, etc.).

Cookies used by RSE SpA

RSE SpA uses cookies to get aggregate statistics about the website usage, improve the site, enrich users’s visit experience.

RSE SpA uses two different types of cookies: session and persistent.

  • Session cookies are automatically deleted when the browser is closed.
  • Persistent cookies have an explicit expiration date and therefore remain on the visitor’s computer even when the browser is closed, unless they are deleted by the user before their expiry date. RSE SpA uses the following persistent cookies:
    1. Google Analytics and YouTube
    2. Website registration

They are used to create and collect information on the use of the website by its visitors. They are considered proprietary cookies because they belong to RSE and cannot be read by other websites.

The browsing data is collected anonymously and concerns the number of website visitors, origin page and visited pages.

Google Analytics and YouTube cookies collect browsing data that is stored and used by Google for the purposes described in the privacy policy published by Google itself. The same data is provided by Google to RSE to get statistical reports on anonymous browsing carried out on the RSE website.

The Registration cookie stores browsing data that is used by RSE to verify and improve the results dissemination of its research activities and to keep track of dissemination type occurred.

RSE SpA does not use advertising profiling cookies, normally issued by third parties, which allow to:

  • provide advertising companies with information about the pages you visit on the websites containing these cookies;
  • advertising companies use the collected navigation information to adapt the advertising content displayed on your terminal while browsing a website.


Disabling Cookies

Main browser can be set to prevent cookies registration.

However, permanently disable cookies may result in browsing difficulties or, sometimes, the inability to use certain websites features.

The Registration cookie used by the website requires prior consent from users before storing their data on the browser, while the other cookies (access and navigation of the site) store their data without requesting the users consent.
