SCENARI 2015 - Analysis and electrical scenarios, energy, environmental

RSE develops research activities dealing with climate changes risks expected in the next decades to support adaptive actions to strengthen the resilience of energetic system in more severe climatic conditions.

Observed climate trends and future climate projections show a significant temperature increasing and a varying rainfall regimes in Mediterranean Basin. As a consequence, it can be expected that Italy might be particularly vulnerable to climate change with considerable impacts on important activity sectors (e.g. agriculture, water resources, health, tourism).

In particular energetic sector will be adversely affected by climate changes.RSE develops research activities dealing with climate changes risks to support adaptive actions to strengthen the resilience of energetic system in more severe climatic conditions.

Climate projections show a marked increase in high temperature extremes, meteorological droughts and heavy precipitation events with significant spatial variations and depending on the season.

Serious risks are expected above all in summer because a reduced water availability may limit hydropower and thermal power production jointly with peaks of cooling energy demand.
