MON4-GRID 2016 - Management, monitoring and control of the transmission grid

The paper illustrates the systems for monitoring the level of pollution of air insulation realized in RSE, their application on the territory, national and not, and the results obtained with the analysis of their data.

The paper reports and analyzes the activities carried out and the experimental results obtained within the framework of research on the evaluation of the pollution severity of line and substation insulators, in order to optimize the choice of these and the maintenance operations necessary to prevent their failure.

In particular, reference is made to the use of two different systems for monitoring the level of pollution of air insulation, installed in different locations of the country: the “Insulator Leakage Current Monitoring System (ILCMS)” and the “Artificially Moistened Insulator for Cleaning Organization (AMICO). With reference to the latter the enhanced prototype for DC voltage is also presented.
