Dam Safety Milan to host international workshop on methods for numerical analysis

Under the auspices of ICOLD – the International Committee for Large Dams – the 15th benchmark workshop will gather top specialists from all over the world on the 9th and 10th of September. The event agenda will include two technical visits at the Dams of Molato and Isola Serafini on the 11th of September as well as a course held by Professor Anil K. Chopra from the University of California.

The ICOLD [international Committee for Large Dams] international meeting is a technical workshop with a long-standing tradition of gathering the top specialists in the field from all over the world to verify and compare innovative methods for analysis and calculation applied to hydraulic structures.

ICOLD's Italian counterpart, ItCOLD, of which RSE is a long-standing partner, was tasked with organizing this workshop's edition in Milan on the 9th and 10th of September.

The event will thus be held under the patronage of the Regional authorities of water-rich Lombardy and the Municipality of Milan, and will be sponsored by Enel Green Power, CVA, Edison, A2A and other companies.

The working sessions will compare experiences with the cases tabled by the Commitee, to which currently used methods will be applied, but the event's agenda for September 11 will also include two technical visits at the dams of Molato and Isola Serafini in addition to a short course by Professor Anil K. Chopra, a  top expert in the field, and its research associates at the  University of California, Berkeley.

Participants will also have an opportunity to see Leonardo's genial hydraulic studies and inventions in an evening tour of the Castello Sforzesco.

Like in the previous editions, RSE is proud of being again an active contributor to the benchmark with its modelling suites as well as to take the event's prestigious guests on a tour in the Milan and Lombardy area thus contributing to maintaining the international excellence of our heritage.
