National Energy Strategy, RSE spoke at the X Senate Committee

Stefano Besseghini, CEO of RSE, spoke on the inquiry SEN at Industry Committee of Senate - Italian Parliament.

24 years after the publication of the first national energy plan, which dates back to 1988, the Italian government has made the new National Energy Strategy (SEN). A strategic document that sets out the objectives and guidelines of the Italian energy policies. In this document are expected € 180 billion of investment by 2020, on white and green economy (renewables and energy efficiency) and in traditional sectors such as electricity grids and gas, LNG terminals, storage facilities and the development of production by hydrocarbons.

Last week, Stefano Besseghini - CEO of RSE - took part in a hearing at the Industry Committee of the Senato della Repubblica in which GSE and all the companies of the group explained their position and their comments on SEN. Besseghini spoke about the role of research in the energy field. In this regard, it was suggested the creation of a "control center" for the activities of research and development at the national level.

This should provide an integrated strategic vision able to converge in research projects the full range of issues in the scenario such as: supply, power generation, transportation, storage, distribution, end-use market. The aim is to set, for example, a shared definition of the research themes with the introduction of public hearings involving stakeholders.

This may produce an efficient management of the national system, integrated with other European countries. RSE is a candidate, due to strong activity carried on all major areas of the power system, to promote and manage integrated research projects to which they contribute, on specific technologies, other operators in the area of research, with the involvement of the national industry, for promoting competitiveness in international markets.
