RSE is looking for partners for a research and testing activity on Vehicle Integrated PhotoVoltaics

As indicated in the paper by ETIP PV (European Technology & Innovation Platform, PhotoVoltaic) entitled "Vehicle-integrated Photovoltaics VIPV as core source for electricity in road transport, 2020", the VIPV technology, in order to maximize the transfer of energy from the photovoltaic system to the battery, requires the development of efficient and fast MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) algorithms in relation to the dynamics of solar irradiance and partial shading.

RSE has developed a MPPT algorithm for PV inverters which, under strongly perturbed conditions (as in VIPV systems), shows high performance with energy gains estimated up to 20% compared to conventional MPPT algorithms.

 RSE is interested in collaborating with a company which is specialized in the development of integrated photovoltaic systems on electric vehicles (VIPV technology) in order to test the MPPT algorithm in operating conditions. The activity includes the following phases: the measurement of the VIPV system current-voltage characteristics in urban and extra-urban conditions, the optimization of the MPPT algorithm in relation to the dynamics of the acquired I-V curves, the implementation of the optimized MPPT RSE algorithm in the DC/DC converter and its experimentation in operating conditions by evaluating the energy gains compared to conventional MPPT.
