Monitoring and controlling the electricity network
Network control includes features to monitor the transit of active and reactive power on the network. The liberalization of the electricity market has radically changed the operating conditions of the electricity network creating a sharp increase in the degree of uncertainty in the actual availability, which is no longer centralized, of the resources needed to control the system and their accurate knowledge as well. Consequently, operational security must be addressed in terms of managing uncertainty and critical information as well as the risk associated with the availability of control resources.
The activities carried out by RSE in this area concern the development of new control features of the network and generation plants connected to it to allow the national Electric System to maintain a high level of availability even with greater exploitation of the network and economic competition among the various operators.
