Demand management

Demand management of energy is intended to counter consumption growth by rationalizing the behavior and technological choices of consumers, in order to ensure the same level of service (comfort, productivity, etc…) with reduced energy needs. Moreover, with specific reference to the electricity system, the change of load curves helps avoid the need to building new plants or to enhance existing ones.

The benefits obtained with demand management are of various kinds: economic (lower investment), environmental (reduced emissions), operational (greater security of energy supply) and political (compliance with international commitments.
