Rse\u2019s participation in the 34th European biomass conference and exhibition (EUBCE 2026), held in the Hague, the Netherlands, has successfully concluded. EUBCE is one of the leading international scientific events dedicated to bioenergy, sustainable biomass valorization, and innovative processes supporting the energy transition. The conference represented a significant opportunity for technical and scientific exchange among universities, research centers, European institutions, and industrial stakeholders, fostering the dissemination of experimental results, advanced methodologies, and integrated approaches for the development of sustainable energy systems.<\/p>\n

During the event, Dario Colombari participated in the poster session \u201cBiomass integration\u201d, presenting the scientific contribution entitled \u201cDevelopment and validation of a milp framework for optimal design and scheduling of biogas-based integrated energy systems\u201d. The work illustrated the development and validation of a milp framework for the optimal design and operational management of biogas-based integrated energy systems, with particular focus on scheduling strategies, energy flexibility, and multi-vector integration.<\/p>\n

Martina Schibeci contributed to the poster session \u201cNew uses and better valorization of different biomass valorization sources. Market transition towards a biobased future\u201d, presenting the work \u201cIntegrated multi-level assessment of biomass valorization and sustainability in Sardinia\u201d, focused on an integrated multi-level approach for assessing sustainability and biomass valorization pathways within the Sardinian territorial context.<\/p>\n

Francesca Meroni participated in the session \u201cBiomass supply and value chains for energy and products\u201d, presenting the contribution \u201cKey regional bioenergy value-chains analysis: sustainable outline and biodiversity indicators for value-chains improvement\u201d, which reports the results of the research conducted within the framework of the European project DIVERSE, funded under the INTERREG Alpine Space programme. The work addressed the analysis of key regional bioenergy value chains, with particular emphasis on environmental sustainability and biodiversity indicators aimed at improving territorial value chains.<\/p>\n

Maria Nordio delivered an oral presentation within the session \u201cBiogas and hydrogen conversion to fuels\u201d, entitled \u201cOptimization of biological methanation in trickle bed reactors through hydrodynamic tests\u201d. The contribution focused on the experimental investigation and optimization of biological methanation in trickle bed reactors through hydrodynamic testing, with specific attention to gas\u2013liquid mass transfer phenomena, operating conditions, and power-to-methane conversion efficiency.<\/p>\n
