The project investigates new methods for the expansion of the distribution system and innovative operating procedures, based on the assumption that users connected to the system (generators and\/or controllable loads) are able to vary their operating point according to the needs of the system. The project also intends to study the energy performance of the generators, assess their reliability and their interaction with the grid. In particular, the services they will have to provide to the grid will be studied (e.g. voltage regulation, frequency regulation). The project also addresses the issue of energy storage by conducting experiments on batteries and supercapacitors at the RSE Distributed Generation Test Facility.
