In particular, the general picture from a physical point of view is of electrodynamics problems that include the phenomenon of surface conduction. These types of problems include, to name a few, the interactions between plasma and dielectric solids and semiconducting solids, the motion of charged ions in electro-active polymers, and the interaction of charged fluids with porous matrices. In this work we will identify, and rigorously define, a representative Poisson problem with non-algebraic interface conditions and we will study different approaches to solve this problem.
