The hybrid plants obtained by combining hydropower pumping with electrochemical Energy Storage Systems (ESS, or SdA), flywheels and appropriate control logics for the provision of flexibility services are among the most promising devices with a view to increasing system capacity to accommodate generation from non-programmable renewable sources (NPRS, or FRNPs). At the same time, to make these innovative solutions economically feasible and achievable, the article analyzed the essential market developments in terms of dispatching services.<\/p>\n
