Hyperthermophilic <em>Thermotogales<\/em>, for example, are able to produce hydrogen and lactic acid from waste better than mesophilic bacteria. This work studies the electrostimulation of <em>Thermotoga neapolitana<\/em> in single-chamber electrochemical bioreactors, in a CO2 atmosphere at 80 \u00b0C. Glucose fermentation was chosen as the metabolism model. The results show that a dynamic bias (\u00b10.8 to \u00b11.2 V) drives glucose fermentation and biofilm stasis on the electrodes. Under these conditions, the production of lactic acid and the yields of acetate and hydrogen (with lactic\/acetic acid ratio of 1.18) were higher than those obtained with static polarization or open circuit (33 vs 12 mM). The results suggest that <em>Thermotoga neapolitana<\/em> could potentially be employed in a hyperthermophile electrochemical system for various applications, including the control of power-to-gas processes or the production of value-added products (hydrogen and lactic acid) from sugar wastes.<\/p>\n","scarica_file":false,"link_estreno":[{"link_text":"Download ISI Article","link":"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/abs\/pii\/S096085242031350X"}],"button":{"text":"","link":""},"referente_group":false,"data_emissione":"2021-01-31","autori":"P.
