Energy justice has been the subject of numerous contributions in recent years; Nonetheless, there are several definitions of energy justice that appear to be competing, or at least appear to lack a theoretical effort to systematize the concepts; an effort aimed at finding a common theoretical root underlying current definitions of energy justice. While tracing a common theoretical root might seem superfluous to some, our opinion is different as it helps to strengthen the concept of energy justice and improves its suitability for application in policy design and evaluation.<\/p>\n
In this paper, we seek to fill this gap by discussing how energy justice is embedded in the tradition of philosophical and political thought, with reference to the concept of equality.
