The article describes the methodological approach that forms the basis for a network planning tool that integrates EV, ESS and DSM models. The current energy transition makes it necessary to investigate technologies and measures to be implemented for the future electricity system in order to guarantee a reliable, sustainable and economical energy supply.<\/p>\n
To support initiatives to limit climate change, policies are implemented to support the development of the market of emerging technologies, such as electric vehicles (EV), energy storage systems (ESS) and flexible demand management (DSM) : the objective is to increase flexibility, provide services and reduce energy costs by optimizing investments in network and generation infrastructure, increasing overall efficiency and helping the transition towards a low-carbon system.<\/p>\n
This document outlines the general methodological approach that has been implemented in an optimization tool that integrates EV, ESS and DSM models and is of support to the designer in facilitating the investment decision-making process in the planning phase through technical and economic information resulting from the analysis of future networks.<\/p>\n
The paper also describes some applications on a test system, showing and discussing the results of scenarios with different levels of flexibility and different technologies.
