In particular, with the increasing presence of renewable generation and innovative load technologies, distribution resources are becoming attractive products in ancillary service markets. To open market doors for distribution flexibility, constant interactions between transmission and distribution system operators are needed, and the European SmartNet project is studying in detail possible coordination schemes between these two players.
