This study presents a life cycle analysis of the electricity mix in Italy and seven European countries. Italy and the member states of the European Union are required to propose and implement an energy transition plan according to (EU) Directive 2018\/2001 establishing a common framework for the promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources. This study analyzes and compares the current (2018) energy mix and scenarios to 2030, with a Life Cycle Thinking approach, of seven European countries (France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Denmark, Belgium and Finland) and relates them to the Italian case. The results show a general reduction in the impacts of these eight countries for almost all impact categories.
