By integrating a PSD sensor into each CPV module, intelligent sun-tracking control strategies can be adopted. This also helps to overcome misalignment problems usually arising when the PSD sensor is installed on the solar tracker frame. In addition, the PSD unit can be used for two-dimensional determination of the acceptance angle of the CPV module and allows for the direct normal radiation to be estimated. All these features also allow the PSD unit to be used for monitoring CPV power plants.
