In recent years, semi-empirical approaches have been<br \/>\nsupplemented by more complex methods based on plasma physics and the solution of a set of partial differential equations (PDEs). In this<br \/>\nwork we describe a model based on the latter approach: it describes the drift and diffusion of charged species by means of the electric field.<br \/>\nThis field is influenced by both an external potential, produced by the voltage applied to a set of electrodes, and by the concentration of<br \/>\ncharged particles.
