In continuity with the institutional support role played by RSE in previous years on the subject of wind and photovoltaic development in the territory, specific analytical activities and thematic studies have been carried out with the aim of providing data and methodologies useful for proceeding with the legislative and planning acts required by the decree.<\/p>\n

The paper presents the activities carried out in support of the preparation of the “Suitable Areas” implementing decree, in particular: the preparation of the spatial database needed to assess potential regional contributions to the national target; the quantification of the impact on the availability of suitable areas due to the introduction of buffer strips of protected cultural assets in the decree. Also presented are in-depth activities on the subject of agricultural land suitable for the installation of photovoltaic plants.<\/p>\n

This involved the development of a GIS methodology for the quantification of agricultural areas located within 500 meters of industrial, commercial and artisanal areas; in fact, these areas represent one of the types of greatest interest for regional administrations, which will have to identify suitable areas sufficient to accommodate the RES power allocated to them.<\/p>\n

A state of the art analysis was also carried out on the methods for analyzing satellite images and spectral indices for the identification of abandoned agricultural areas that can be earmarked for the installation of photovoltaic systems, while minimizing the impact on agricultural production.
