Corporate fleets represent one of the main candidates for the transition to electric mobility today. Their characteristics in terms of predictability and intensity of use, as well as the availability of private shelter spaces and long parking times, limit the typical issues of electric cars (purchase costs, autonomy, charging times), while enhancing their positives (operating costs, driving comfort, environmental and image benefits). In the current three-year period of research, RSE is paying particular attention to this area and has decided to exploit its fleet as a \u2018case study\u2019. It has therefore set up a plan to convert its vehicles from diesel to electric, and started the creation of an experimental charging area, which simultaneously allows the cars to be powered and innovative charging strategies to be tested. Following the preliminary analyses carried out in 2019, during 2020 we moved from the design phase to the executive phase, with the acquisition of 3 plug-in hybrid vehicles and the closure of the procurement procedures for another 7 electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles. Furthermore, we carried out the building and electrical works preliminary to the installation of the charging stations, which will be supplied to RSE by 5 technical partners selected during the year. The development and testing of a remote monitoring system of home charging at also continued. Finally, during the year, the opportunity was created to test, in collaboration with FCA e-Mobility, two plug-in hybrid Jeep Renegade 4xe, which were used both for technical characterization tests and to evaluate the suitability of this type of traction to the needs of the RSE fleet and its correspondence to employee expectations. This collaboration made it possible to collect many data on the functioning of the vehicles and in particular on their consumption in different conditions and with different driving modes.
