The report presents a summary and some practical applications of the District Sharing methodology.<\/p>\n
District Sharing is part of the so-called “industrial symbiosis” and represents both a complement and an evolution of the concepts of industrial districts and Ecologically Equipped Productive Areas (APEA), integrating the positive aspects of both. Particularly noteworthy is the concept of integrating not only energy efficiency but also an all-encompassing \u201cefficiency,\u201d according to the principles of the circular economy and industrial symbiosis, within groups of establishments.<\/p>\n
The starting point of the study is an analysis of these existing realities in the Italian territory, with the presentation of some examples of industrial symbiosis and integration along the supply chain. From there, it proposes a methodology for identifying potential areas for the application of District Sharing on a smaller, more local scale, in new contexts where there is strong interaction between the industrial and tertiary sectors.<\/p>\n
Specifically, a methodology is proposed that leads to a systematic mapping, at a national level, of productive areas and the businesses within them, to evaluate the potential of District Sharing. This study presents a possible approach, but it faces the challenge of lacking a systematic database and a business registry to support such mapping, making the work largely manual and of limited efficiency and effectiveness. A demonstrative example of mapping and analysis is presented.<\/p>\n
