The use of electric power for efficient thermal consumption with reduced local emissions, the promotion of individual and collective electricity self-consumption, and the potential provision of energy and services to the grid are key elements of the new management approach that should yield tangible benefits for both users and the grid.<\/p>\n<p>To facilitate this transformation, the project includes several activities divided into two Work Packages, which respectively pursue:<\/p>\n<p>1) The promotion of energy efficiency through the adoption of intelligent consumption optimization systems.<\/p>\n<p>2) The improvement of high-temperature heat pump technology for heating and domestic hot water production using electric energy.<\/p>\n<p>During the first year of activity, a specific \u201call-electric\u201d building-laboratory was established and equipped, which will allow the application of predictive control techniques such as MPC (Model Predictive Control) and Machine Learning to domestic consumption, which will be further developed throughout the project. In parallel, the development of virtual building models was initiated to produce dynamic energy simulations to estimate the energy needs of typical utilities. The topic of virtual collective self-consumption was explored, focusing on optimization functions that maximize the output of a shared photovoltaic (PV) system by a group of users, which will be implemented in specific software in subsequent years of the project. Additionally, a thorough literature review on thermodynamic cycles of high-temperature heat pumps based on ejectors was conducted.
