This work constitutes a bibliographic review of the LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) studies related to urban freight delivery by means of light vehicles or pedal-assisted cargo bikes. The electrification of freight transport in urban areas is a challenge that can contribute to achieving the target set by the European Green Deal of zero climate impact for cities by 2050. In this context, a significant contribution can come both from the electrification of vans and from the introduction of alternative means, such as pedal-assisted cargo bikes, which can be optimally used in the delivery of goods in city sub-areas, such as historic city centers or restricted traffic zones.
\nLife Cycle Assessment represents the most suitable tool to assess the real sustainability of the different options because, by taking into consideration all the stages of the life cycle, it can highlight the advantages and disadvantages of the different technological options.<\/p>\n

In order to carry out a comparative LCA of last-mile logistics vehicles, it was deemed necessary to carry out an examination of national and international LCA studies relating to light commercial vehicles and pedal-assisted cargo bikes that can be used to provide this service.<\/p>\n

As for vans, the studies analyzed allowed obtaining quantitative information for the modeling of the production phase of the vehicles and addressed the choice of parameters such as functional unit and useful life of the vehicles. They also confirmed the absence of limitations related to battery autonomy in relation to the service provided. Little information was found regarding the use of pedal-assisted cargo bikes, confirming the belief that this is still an unexplored field and that including this type of vehicle in the analysis constitutes an added value for the research.<\/p>\n
