The aim of this study is to define a methodology, based on the use of correlations between electrical distribution and territory, to examine, on a national scale, the evolution of the Italian distribution network (e.g., extension of MT lines) in load growth scenarios.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The main difficulty in identifying these correlations is the lack of data related to Italian distribution networks and associated users. To overcome these limitations, the study utilized data from the French network, which is available thanks to open data initiatives, identifying correlations between the electrical distribution network and territory to be applied to the Italian case.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The methodology offers several advantages: it provides results with significant geographical detail (1 km\u00b2 in the case examined) and allows for rapid estimates for various scenarios, without requiring complex calculations such as power flow analyses. Despite the approximations adopted, the results obtained from the scenario analysis are consistent with those obtained using other methodologies and are believed to provide an upper limit to the costs of network development, demonstrating the utility of the method for preliminary studies.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The methodology could be refined if data regarding networks and users (e.g., nominal powers) were published, allowing for more detailed modeling of the correlations.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the results obtained demonstrate that the availability of additional data, such as historical series or network indicators (SAIDI, SAIFI, losses), could not only further refine the models but also enable new applications, such as identifying critical areas or effective interventions to improve service quality.
