RSE has been invited to take a tutorial on Cyber Security as representative of Cigrè D.2 Committee – Information Systems and Telecommunications. The tutorial highlights the main aspects of the Cyber Security for the power system taken into account the evolution towards the Smart Grid paradigm. In the final part of the tutorial the Cigré initiatives about Cyber security had been presented, with focus on contribution of the Working Group D2.40 – Cyber risks and cyber security for the next generation of digital systems in Electric Power Utilities, where RSE provides an active contribution.

Today power system operations are increasingly dependent on ICT (Information and Communication Technology) including information systems and communication networks. This evolution introduces new vulnerabilities to the reliability of electricity supply, based on the introduction and exposure of vulnerabilities in digital systems, architectures and communications. The tutorial gives a status of Cyber Security including a discussion of the current risks and threats landscape power actors are facing.
