    EfW in Italy: an update

    Viene presentata la situazione Italiana relativa alla produzione di energia elettrica in impianti che utilizzano principalmente rifiuti urbani.

    The Italian situation concerning the production of electricity in plants primarily operated with municipal solid waste, is presented and discussed.In particular we present the characteristics of plants in operation today, in terms of geographical location, heat capacity, electrical capacity and capacity in terms of the amount of waste that can be burned yearly.

    Furthermore a statistics of the installed technologies and age of the plants are presented.Particular attention is given to the evaluation of the residual capacity of the plants in terms of additional quantities of waste that can be treated on the Italian territory, identifying where these areas are particularly susceptible to exploitation.
