Managing Costs of Power Dispatch in a Medium Voltage Power Network

Nella presentazione è affrontato il problema dell’efficienza economica del re-dispacciamento di potenza attiva e reattivo in una rete in media tensione.

We consider the problem of the economic efficiency in Active and Reactive power re-dispatch in a medium voltage AC power network. The re-dispatch is particularly important when renewable power sources are installed in the network. These generation technologies constitutes a source for imbalances between demand and supply due to the variability of the production. This results in an increase in losses and drops in network security. The re-dispatch is carried out by the Distribution System Operator using either internal or external resources.

The first group of resources includes usage of voltage regulation, on-line tap changers installed on transformers as well as energy storage devices. The second group of resources is based on economic incentives to power generators for inducing deviations of production from the scheduled level and exchanges with the High Voltage network. The problem of optimal re-dispatching considers both economic and technical aspects through the minimization of total costs associated to the usage of internal and external resources constrained by nodal balance equations, power flow equations, upper bound on maximum current flowing in the lines and an inter-temporal battery level constraint.
