The Apollon Project: Bringing competitiveness to CPV

The APOLLON project started in July 2008 and is so far the largest European project in the PV field on the Seventh Framework Program. The main aim of the project is to develop CPV system with a target cost of 2 Euro/W. Purpose of this contribution is to present an overview of the project and some peculiar aspects. The following points will be considered

Overview of the Apollon project, its main contributions so far and its future goals that will enable CPV progress
Advancements in the optics optimization and development of new optics achieved in this project
Developments in solar cells (III-V and silicon) that will allow solar devices with high economical performance index
Improvements in tracking strategies that will lead into more accuracy and reliability and enable higher system output
