RESEARCH GROUP MISSION

Adds value to atmospheric modeling, with a special focus on air quality and its interactions with the energy system and, more generally, with the anthropic system.

ACTIVITY FIELDS

  • Development of modeling systems in the field of air quality aimed at reconstructing the processes of emission, dispersion, chemical transformation and removal of air pollutants
  • Application of modeling approaches for solving air quality problems with a view to identifying the interactions between the energy system and the environment, with reference to, among others, the issues of power system safety, mobility, and the integration of energy, environmental, and impact assessment models
  • Application of modeling tools for the reconstruction of the relationship between mobility and emission scenarios, particularly on an urban scale
  • Development and application of modeling tools for the overall assessment of the environmental quality of urban areas determined by the implementation of energy policies, including mobility, with reference to the main indicators of environmental well-being (air quality, urban microclimate, noise, …)
  • Development of theoretical and experimental activities related to emissions from combustion (including biomass) and validation of measurement and monitoring methodologies
  • Management of the environmental metrology laboratory and LOOP facility
