RSE present at ‘Dam Day’

From May 24 to June 1, several events took place throughout the country to raise awareness of the role played by dams.

On May 29, 2024, Europe celebrated the first day dedicated to dams and reservoirs, ‘Dam Day – Reservoir for Europe,’ organized by ITCOLD with the support of RSE and established by European ICOLD Club.

From May 24 to June 1, a number of events were held across Europe, including twenty-seven in Italy, aimed at providing greater media coverage and raise social awareness of the role these infrastructures play in energy transition, land protection against extreme events such as floods and water crises, climate change adaptation and food security.

RSE’s Sustainable Development and Energy Sources Department took part in a study day on dams on May 29, organized by the Politecnico di Milano in collaboration with ITCOLD’s Young Professionals. Antonella Frigerio, Deputy Department Director, gave a presentation on the prospects for the development of new hydroelectric pumping plants in Italy, while researcher Andrea Abbate focused on the assessment of reservoir silting in the long term.
