In Milan the first meeting of the new Board of Directors

Franco Cotana confirmed as CEO. RSE top management statements.

The new Board of Directors of RSE – Ricerca sul Sistema Energetico composed of the new directors Michele Di Stefano, Lucrezia Jannuzzelli, and Antonella Massari, as well as the new Chairman Carloalberto Giusti, who were appointed on May 31, met yesterday in Milan and unanimously established to delegate the powers of CEO to Franco Cotana, full professor of industrial technical physics in the Department of Engineering at the Università degli Studi di Perugia. Cotana succeeds Maurizio Delfanti, who held the position from March 2019 to the end of May 2023.

‘I am proud to lead RSE, a public structure of excellence in the field of Energy System Research in our country,’ Franco Cotana, CEO of RSE, said on the sidelines of the BoD meeting. ‘With its laboratories, its offices in Milan and Piacenza, and its representative offices in Rome, RSE is undergoing strong development and its staff will soon exceed 400 people, including young and enthusiastic researchers who make use of state-of-the-art equipment and laboratories. People are the real wealth of RSE, whose role and human capital serve the country, even more so in this period of energy-environment transition, characterised by climate change and energy crises. Thanks to its innovation-oriented approach, RSE will be able to stand out in the evolving scenario of the scientific research, particularly on electricity and gas grids, energy storage, special materials, hydrogen, and sustainable transport, to name a few areas of activity. The goal is and will be to make available to the country energy technology solutions that combine safety, efficiency and sustainability.’

‘Dutiful – added Cotana – thanks to those who preceded me: Prof. Maurizio Delfanti, who did an excellent job as CEO, fostering a harmonious growth of RSE, and paying particular attention to topical issues such as transportation and electric mobility; Prof. Alberto Geri, who contributed as President, in collaboration with Prof. Delfanti, to the development of Knowledge Communities within RSE, that have encouraged a serene and fruitful climate of scientific contamination among research groups.’

Great satisfaction and enthusiasm were also expressed by the President of RSE Carloalberto Giusti, Dean of Università degli Studi Link Campus University in Rome and full professor of comparative private law, born in Taranto in 1980, who stated: ‘I thank you for your trust in entrusting me with this position. It is an honor for me to represent RSE, synonymous with expertise and professionalism. I am aware that I am taking on a great challenge, but I do believe that with everyone’s energy we will be able to achieve important goals, following the path traced by those who came before me, as well as guide RSE toward the future of energy research and the country toward goals that meet European expectations. Just as has been done to date, we will promote and encourage fruitful collaboration with research institutes, universities and companies to foster an increasingly widespread dissemination of our scientific heritage.’

The new Board of Directors will remain in office until the date of the Shareholders’ Meeting convened to approve the 2025 Annual Report.
