Climate scenarios for wind power generation in Italian regions

This dataset represents wind power generation scenarios until the end of the century at a regional level across the entire Italian territory. The projections are based on the analysis of a set of wind speed climate data, developed under the most pessimistic assumption of no mitigation actions regarding greenhouse gas emissions (RCP 8.5 emission scenario). The generation values, expressed in equivalent hours, are provided for each region and calculated considering suitable areas for wind turbine installation.

 
DESCRIPTION
This dataset represents wind power generation scenarios until the end of the century at a regional level across Italy, based on the analysis of a set of wind speed climate projections, developed under the most pessimistic assumption of no mitigation actions regarding greenhouse gas emissions (RCP 8.5 emission scenario). The wind power generation values in equivalent hours provided for each region are calculated considering suitable areas for wind turbine installation.
 
APPLICATIONS
This dataset can be valuable for studies on the impact of climate change on wind power generation, supporting strategies for expanding wind power in Italy with a view to climate change mitigation.
