StoRIES – Storage Research Infrastructure Eco System

New energy storage technologies are fundamental for more balanced and flexible grids, to provide energy reserves for intermittent renewable sources, and to address the challenges of seasonal energy storage.


 
The StoRIES project, funded by the EU, promotes a European ecosystem of industries and research organizations to develop innovative and competitive energy storage concepts and technologies that are less costly. The consortium consists of members from the European Energy Research Alliance (EERA) and the European Association for Storage of Energy (EASE): 32 beneficiaries from 17 countries. By providing access to top-notch research infrastructures and services, the project aims to accelerate the advancement of knowledge and technology in the field of energy storage. One of the main technological objectives is to optimize hybrid energy systems.
The intention is to develop research and innovation projects on hybrid storage systems within the laboratories of the involved entities (including RSE, linked third party of EERA and provider of a research infrastructure for the development of materials and for characterization tests of storage systems). The projects involve European researchers of entities in other countries, performing their work within the research infrastructures made available by StoRIES. It is planned that foreign researchers will be hosted in RSE laboratories to perform activities on material development for electrochemical hybrid systems.
