Renewable energy at the service of the territory: the meeting in Valle d’Aosta

Focus on research in the hydropower sector.

RSE’s Deputy Director of Sustainable Development and Energy Sources Department Antonella Frigerio, as Co-Chair of the Governing Board of the ETIP HYDROPOWER, presented the research needs to foster the hydropower sector as a catalyst in the energy transition at the seminar “Renewable energy at the service of the territory and climate impact in mountain areas: local solutions for European sustainable development”, organized by the European Committee of the Regions (CoR), in collaboration with the Autonomous Region of Valle d’Aosta, in Saint Vincent (Valle d’Aosta) on June.

ETIP HYDROPOWER has recently launched three working groups, addressing key issues for economic development, environmental protection and climate adaptation:
1. Hydropower role for flexibility and storage
2. Hydropower and biodiversity
3. Hydropower and climate change (adaptation and mitigation)
A fourth permanent working group will provide an overview on past and current European R&I projects for hydropower.
