projects - Power System Research - Three year plan (2000-2002)

Reliability of generation systems

Plant reliability and availability depend on a wide range of factors (design, implementation quality, operating mode, maintenance criteria); for each of them optimization methodologies and tools are constantly evolving. The project focuses on three key objectives:
* Analysis and evaluation of reliability and availability data of generation plants, in order to highlight their interdependence with the factors that determine the evolution of the electrical system;
* Development and demonstration application of new online and offline diagnostic methodologies aimed at supporting operation and ‘on condition’ maintenance strategies;
* Development and demonstration application of innovative and complex technologies aimed at implementing more effective methodologies for ascertaining structural reliability.
