The validation of a novel lumped parameter model for photovoltaic thermal hybrid solar collectors: a new TRNSYS type

This work contributes to existing research by proposing and validating (through field monitoring) a new lumped parameter simulation model for hybrid solar collectors.

Decarbonization is one of the most important challenges facing researchers, and integrated solar energy systems are an important solution to reduce energy consumption in the residential sector. This work contributes to existing research by proposing and validating (through field monitoring) a new lumped parameter simulation model for hybrid solar collectors. A modeling approach similar to a resistive model is used to solve heat transfer problems. Simulation results were compared with experimental data collected under different meteorological conditions. The results were analyzed in terms of both average daily performance and instantaneous quantities of the variables characterizing the system. Finally, the simulation model was implemented as TYPE of TRNSYS, dynamic simulation software, and is made freely available as an attachment to this article.
