RESEARCH GROUP MISSION

Designing, producing and testing innovative components and materials for the electricity system, with special reference to high-temperature superconducting devices; evaluating innovative ways
of managing line components according to their operating conditions (load capacity) and environmental conditions, also by means of innovative electro-optics-based techniques.

ACTIVITY FIELDS

  • Study and evaluation of the impact of innovative materials, technologies, and electrical components that have the potential to foster the evolution of the current electrical grid
  • Development of innovative sensors and equipment for energy networks. Performance checks of innovative electro-optical devices
  • Optical diagnostic and measurement systems. Studies and models for superconducting material applications: limiters, cables, generators, etc.
  • Characterization of superconducting materials and testing of superconducting devices
  • Studies on partial discharges and degradation of dielectric materials
