Effe Laboratory – (Energy Efficiency)

The EffE – Energy Efficiency – experimental laboratory is a concrete example of highly efficient buildings that use renewable energy and smart solutions. This “fully electric” building model is equipped with innovative systems that minimize energy consumption, maximize the use of renewable energy, eliminate pollutant emissions, and ensure a high level of safety and comfort.

The facility is dedicated to testing and comparing various system solutions to meet the requirements of a modern residential dwelling. In particular, it focuses on the climate control system, using two heat pump systems: one air split type and the other air/water type with fancoils and low-thickness radiant floors. It also uses a heat pump boiler to produce domestic hot water, supported by a wastewater heat recovery system.

To promote energy savings and maximize comfort, a smart energy optimization and management system was developed specifically for buildings with heat pumps and photovoltaic systems. This system reduces the demand for electricity from the external grid, improves the performance of climate control devices, and increases self-production of electricity, using advanced Machine Learning and Predictive Control techniques.
