Membrane Characterization Laboratory

The Membrane Characterization Laboratory specializes in high-temperature characterization of ceramic membranes for oxygen separation.

The Membrane Characterization Laboratory has two test stations for short- and long-term permeation tests under various operating conditions. Each station is equipped with gas testing instruments (O2, He, N2, CO2), a quartz permeation cell, a vertical electric furnace to heat the cell up to 1200 °C, instrumentation to measure pressure and temperature, and a data acquisition and control system.

In addition, an in-line micro-gas chromatograph is used to measure process gas concentration and calculate oxygen permeability through the sample.

These stations can also be used for room-temperature testing thanks to a dedicated line and a cell made of plastic.

The laboratory also has a high-temperature furnace and a material testing facility for thermal storage.
