The meeting ‘Fermerci in terminal’ took place on October 9 at the Fiera di Padova, which included a presentation of the ‘Charter of Rail Last Mile’. This study, carried out by Fermerci in collaboration with RSE and PwC, analyzes the crucial role of rail freight transport and the importance of last mile infrastructure.

The event was attended by Marco Borgarello, Head of the ‘Energy Efficiency’ Research Group of the Energy Systems Development Department at RSE, who illustrated the energy-and environment-related aspects of the study. Borgarello underlined how rail freight transport is a fundamental to fostering the decarbonization of the transport sector, confirming RSE’s commitment to research and development of solutions that support the efficiency and sustainability of the transport sector.

The ‘Charter of Rail Last Mile’ is a significant step towards more integrated mobility, emphasizing the value of rail transport in the context of logistics.
