Electric mobility – the Italian National Single Platform of Charging Points is online

RSE and GSE alongside the Ministry in the implementation of the PUN.

The institutional portal that maps publicly accessible electric vehicle charging stations across the Italy is active: the Italian National Single Platform (Piattaforma Unica Nazionale or PUN) is online. The launch of the new tool took place during a press conference with Environment and Energy Security Minister Gilberto Pichetto Fratin. Representatives of GSE and RSE (Ricerca sul Sistema Energetico), companies that collaborated with the Ministry in the creation of the platform, were present at the Auditorium of the Gestore dei Servizi Energetici.

The portal helps to find the charging infrastructures on the Italian territory, showing details on the type of power supply, the maximum power that can be delivered, information on the operators providing the service (Charging Point Operator, CPO) and the status of the charging point.

‘The PUN,’ emphasized Pichetto, ‘is an added value for the diffusion of electric mobility in Italy. In fact, it allows homogeneous data and information on the distribution of charging points to converge towards a single institutional portal, which are valuable as much for operators as for local authorities and citizens. The platform will be enriched with new features in the coming months,’ Pichetto adds, ‘which will make it increasingly useful to the daily lives of citizens and administrative planning.’

Thanks to the contribution of the main infrastructure operators, today the PUN already maps more than 32,000 active recharging points in Italy, including those installed on highway networks, out of the 42,500 that exist today.

In addition to being a stimulus for the development of electric mobility, the PUN is therefore also a support tool for local authorities in the urban planning of territories. The input of charging infrastructure data by charging station operators, as required by the Italian ministerial decree dated March 16, 2023, will be completed by July 26. In December, real-time interoperability with CPOs will be completed and the App that will allow access to PUN services via mobile devices will be released.

The press conference was attended, along with the Minister, by RSE Chairman Carloalberto Giusti and RSE CEO Franco Cotana, GSE Chairman Paolo Arrigoni and GSE CEO Vinicio Mosè Vigilante.
