‘Energy transition: challenges and opportunities’ event in Rome, organized by RSE – Club of Rome

Conference to analyze the developments of the sector in view of the targets of Agenda 2050.

 

On November 11 in Rome, the event organized by RSE and Club di Roma, entitled ‘The energy transition: challenges and opportunities,’ will be held from 9 am to 1 pm at the GSE Auditorium.

 

The meeting—which follows the positive experience of the ‘Energy for All’ event, held on 23 November 2023 in Milan—is a crucial moment of discussion among energy sector experts, institutional representatives and leading figures in the industry of the challenges and opportunities related to the energy transition in Italy and globally.

 

Fifty years after the famous report by the Club of Rome ‘The Limits to Growth,’ the conference aims to analyze how the recommendations of the recent ‘Earth4All’ report have been implemented by national and European policies, in particular with regard to the transformation of the energy sector to achieve the objectives of Agenda 2050.

 

The event—moderated by Ilaria Losa of the RSE Department of Energy Systems Development and member of the Club of Rome—is opened by a welcome from Franco Cotana, CEO of RSE.

 

The program is full of speeches by authoritative figures, including Carlos Álvarez Pereira, Secretary General of the Club of Rome, who will illustrates the main recommendations of the report ‘Earth4All: The Energy Turnaround.’

 

Antonio Iliceto, Vice President of ETIP SNET, will illustrate and share ideas on the contribution to decarbonization offered by research and development in the European electricity grid sector. Alberto Gelmini, Project Leader ‘Energy Scenarios and Governance Support’ of RSE, will present the energy scenarios that form the basis of the National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan (PNIEC).

 

Investigating systemic transformations in the context of national and European energy strategies is the central theme of the round table discussion moderated by Mauro Spagnolo, director of Rinnovabili, with the participation of prominent figures such as Enrico Giovannini, co-founder and scientific director of ASviS; Gianfranco Bologna, secretary general of the Aurelio Peccei foundation; Luca Marchisio, head of System Strategy, TERNA; Xavier Rousseau, director of Strategy and Market Analysis, SNAM; Luca Benedetti, head of ESG, PNIEC Studies and Monitoring, GSE; Luca Ventorino, member of the Technical Secretariat, Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security and Marco Ravazzolo, head of Policies for the Environment, Energy and Mobility, Confindustria.
