The entities responsible for the System Research (2022-2024 Three-Year Research Plan), RSE and ENEA, are organizing an event in Portici, in the province of Naples, on December 3 from 9 AM to 5 PM to present the three-year results of the Project Evolution, Planning, Programming, and Operation of Electrical Networks and the Italian working groups of the European SET PLAN on HVDC & MVDC/LVDC.

In line with the future evolutions of the electrical system (a generation mix with a high penetration of renewable sources, active demand, electrification of energy services, and multi-energy flexibility) and considering the critical issues (extreme environmental threats), it is necessary to identify and develop innovative technological and architectural solutions to increase the flexibility of the electrical grid, as well as methodologies for defining efficient planning interventions that ensure high levels of reliability, adequacy, security, and resilience. To improve these aspects, integrated methods need to be defined to quantify them with a systems approach.

These methodological and technological developments must support stakeholders and policymakers in identifying the needs for the network’s evolution in new scenarios.
