Hydrogeological instability, the RSE study is online

The Sustainable Development and Energy Sources Department’s analysis of the CRHyME geo-hydrological model.

Hydrogeological instability in Italy is a potential threat to the infrastructure of the electro-energy system. The scientific article entitled ‘CRHyME (Climatic Rainfall Hydrogeological Modelling Experiment): a new model for geo-hydrological hazard assessment at the basin scale,’ published in the specialised magazine NHESS – Natural Hazards and Earth System Sciences (Copernicus, IF. 4.6), deals with the topic. Andrea Abbate, Leonardo Mancusi, Antonella Frigerio, and Francesco Apadula of the Sustainable Development and Energy Sources Department of RSE contributed to the article.

In detail, the CRHyME geo-hydrological model is proposed as a tool for the analysis of hydrogeological instability phenomena at the basin scale. A quantification of the hazard of landslide and flood phenomena is necessary for proper planning of interventions and to increase the resilience of the electro-energy system.
