Modeling and optimization for arrays of water turbine oscillating water column device

The article “Modeling and optimization for arrays of water turbine OWC devices” has been published in the journal Ocean Engineering. The article is the result of a collaboration between RSE and the Politecnico of Milan. The article is written by Project Manager Stefano Maran, Giordano Agate from Sustainable Development and Energy Sources Department and Marco Gambarini, who did a PhD internship at RSE.

 

 

The paper presents the results obtained on the optimisation of the layout and control of a wave energy converter park of the oscillating water column type coupled to a floating offshore wind turbine.

 

Mutual interaction effects are reported and it is shown that wave reflection from the piles of an offshore structure can improve energy production.
