The new RSE article “Multi-scale assessment of high-resolution reanalysis precipitation fields over Italy”

The study sees collaboration between the Climate and Meteorology Group at RSE and the Atmospheric Physics Group at the University of Milan.

The article titled “Multi-scale assessment of high-resolution reanalysis precipitation fields over Italy” is now available online, published in the scientific journal Atmospheric Research.

The work, authored for RSE by Francesco Cavalleri, Francesca Viterbo, Riccardo Bonanno, Matteo Lacavalla, and Simone Sperati, is part of a doctoral project co-funded between RSE and the University of Milan, as part of the Resilience Project, which involves collaboration between the Climate and Meteorology Group at RSE and the Atmospheric Physics Group at the University of Milan.

The comparison between precipitation fields from nine different reanalyses available for Italy highlights how the atmospheric reanalyses Merida and Merida Hres, developed at RSE, are able to accurately represent precipitation across the national territory at various spatial and temporal scales.
