The RSE Delegation at the AEIT 2024 International Conference

The annual event in Trento addresses the topics of decarbonization and resilient energy infrastructures.

 

This year, RSE confirms its participation in the 116th edition of the AEIT International Conference, which, from September 25 to 27 in Trento, delves into the role of scientific and technological challenges in the energy sector, steering the debate towards the themes of decarbonization and infrastructure resilience. .

 

A large delegation from RSE is participating in the international meeting to share and discuss analyses and research results. .

 

On September 25, Michele Benini, Director of the Energy Systems Development Department, gave a keynote speech at the panel “Current Status and Prospects of the Energy Transition”, scheduled from 2 to 4 PM in the Main Room.

 

 

On September 26, Michele de Nigris, Director of the Sustainable Development and Energy Sources Department, participated in the roundtable titled “Electric Infrastructure: From Technology to Skills,” held in the Main Room from 11:45 AM to 1 PM.Michele de Nigris,The following day, Parallel Special and Technical Sessions were held in the Main Room from 8:30 to 10:15 AM. Michele de Nigris presented a technical paper co-authored with Terna titled “Protecting Operators During Firefighting Operations Near Overhead Transmission Lines”. The study was signed by Michele de Nigris, Giovanni Pirovano, and Giovanni D’Avanzo for RSE.

 

The Transmission and Distribution Technologies Department of RSE was represented by Elsa Corniani, who presented the paper “PKI Implementation for the Cybersecurity of Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructures”, co-authored by Elsa Corniani and Mauro G. Todeschini for RSE.
A Gabriele Paludetto presented the joint paper with Unareti titled “IEC CIM Based Ontology Definition for Gas Distribution Networks,” co-authored by Francesca Soldan, Enea Bionda, and Gabriele Paludetto of RSE.
Pietro Carmine illustrated the work titled “Real-Time Simulation of MV/LV Hybrid AC/DC Test Facility: Islanding and Resynchronization,” co-authored by Pietro Carmine, Diego Cavaliere, Riccardo Chiumeo, Chiara Gandolfi, Alessandro Veroni, and Michele Zanoni of RSE.

 

 

Michele Zanoni analyzed the paper titled “Multilinear Regression Analysis Applied to Voltage Dips Classified by a Deep Learning-Based Validity Algorithm”, co-authored by Michele Zanoni, Riccardo Chiumeo, Chiara Gandolfi, Liliana Tenti, and Massimo Volta.

 

 

For RSE Manuel Sozzi delved into the work co-authored with the University of Trieste, titled “A New Integrated Instrument for Partial Discharge Monitoring and Diagnostics of Medium Voltage Cables”. The work was signed by Manuel Sozzi, Sergio Chiarello, Giovanni Pirovano, and Johnny Borghetto of RSE.

 

 

During the Parallel Special and Technical Sessions, Francesco Lanni presented the paper titled “Assessment of Typical Meteorological Year for Hybrid Renewable Offshore Energy Systems: An Italian Case Study”, co-authored by Francesco Lanni, Giovanni Manzini, Beatrice Pinzi, and Laura Serri of RSE, in collaboration with the University of Milan Bicocca.

 

 

Representing the Generation and Materials Technologies Department of RSE, Jacopo Neri illustrated the paper “Business Model for Renewable Energy Communities”, co-authored by Jacopo Neri and Edoardo Corsetti.
Claudio Anderis illustrated the work titled “Implementation of an Experimental Facility for District Heating Networks Flexibility Assessment,” co-authored by Claudio Anderis, Marcelo Andre Muro Alvarado, and Riccardo Lazzari.

 

For the Energy Systems Development Department of RSE, **Federica Davò** participated to present the paper “Impact of the Abolition of PUN on the Outcomes of the Italian Day-Ahead Market”, co-authored by Federica Davò, Alessandro Zani, and Dario Siface.

 

 

Marco Raffaele Rapizza presented the paper “Innovative Strategies for Upward Frequency Regulation Provision by Renewables and Batteries”, co-authored for RSE by Marco Raffaele Rapizza, Silvia Canevese, and Diego Cirio, in collaboration with the University of Genoa and the Campus Biomedico of the University of Rome.

Emanuele Ciapessoni participated in the AEIT conference, presenting a paper co-authored by RSE and Terna titled “Assessing the Benefits from the Reduction of Substation Load Outage Time via Remotely Controlled Switch Disconnectors”. For RSE, contributors to the paper includedEmanuele Ciapessoni, Diego Cirio, Andrea Pitto, and Giovanni Pirovano.
Ciapessoni also served as co-chair in the special session “Resilience of Distribution and Transmission Electrical Systems in the Times of Climate Changes and Green Energy Transition”, organized in collaboration with Professor Pompili from the University of Rome La Sapienza.

 

 

Giacomo Viganò presented two papers. The first, “Correlations Between the Evolution of Electricity Distribution Infrastructure and Territory”, was co-authored by Giacomo Viganò, Chiara Michelangeli, and Marco Rossi. The second, titled “Italian Regulatory Framework for Grid Flexibility: Weaknesses and Potential Enhancements,” was written by Giorgia Lattanzio, Giacomo Viganò, and Marco Rossi.

 

 

For the Sustainable Development and Energy Sources Department, Filippo D’Amico illustrated the paper titled “Fire Danger Characterization in Italy: Mitigating the Impact on Real-Time Operation of Power Systems”, co-authored by Filippo D’Amico, Elena Collino, Francesca Viterbo, Riccardo Bonanno, and Michele De Nigris of RSE, in collaboration with Terna.
