Setting up the Atlas of Waste Heat Penetration Potential in District Heating

Activities to define the specifications of an Atlas of Industrial Waste Heat Utilization for District Heating as a useful tool for integration between energy systems


 
DESCRIPTION
The detailed technical specifications for the development of a National Dynamic Atlas of Heat Costs from Heat Recovery are intended for the development of a graphical system that, starting from mapping the heat demand in the residential and service sectors in a user-defined territorial scope, will provide a census of waste heat sources of an industrial nature that can be used as an energy source in district heating networks. Its purpose is to allow the economic evaluation of the available technical potential in the chosen territory in order to estimate the real exploitable potential from the perspective of optimizing costs and externalities.
 
APPLICATIONS
The main applications of the consulting tool include the decision to provide a reliable quantitative estimation and calibration of support schemes for the implementation of projects that use industrial waste heat, promoted centrally, nationally or by institutions and local authorities, and the potential available in defined spatial dimensions and the social costs/benefits of them.
 
USERS
The main users of the Atlas definition activities are industrial sector operators, district heating operators and regulatory authorities.
