A freeware SPH numerical chain on floods and landslides for the safety of hydroelectric plants, electrical substations and electricity pylons

The numerical chain of the SPH SPHERA code (RSE SpA) simulates flash floods and rapid landslides at the sub-basin scale, for the safety of hydroelectric plants, electrical substations and electricity pylons. The new features of SPHERA have made it possible to improve two applications at 1:1 scale.

The numerical chain of the SPH SPHERA code (RSE SpA) simulates flash floods and rapid landslides at the sub-basin scale, for the safety of hydroelectric plants, electrical substations and electricity pylons. The chain is made up of FOSS (‘Free/Libre & Open-Source Software’) or in any case ‘freeware’ tools, and Open-Access databases. The RSE software tools are available on github.com. The current version of the chain is presented, highlighting the new features of SPHERA which have allowed us to improve two applications at 1:1 scale.
